Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

It is not known where Cheesy Birthday came from, or why it decided to live in the mints' cave, but it showed up there one day, out of the blue. It was lucky that it had gone there, for if it had arrived at almost any other cave, it would have surely been eaten. Though still in one piece, Cheesy Birthday has not left the mints' cave since entering, as the mints are powerless against other dragons and wouldn't want to see their cheesy friend get devoured. It has seemed content to sit around and watch the moss grow.
