Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Electric yellow scales shimmer brightly across its belly, and an even brighter spark adorns its tail.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Spark-Tail, affectionately called 'Sparky' by the adults (though the other hatchlings mock him unmercifully for it) is an incredibly clumsy hatchling. He's always tripping over himself, and showering everything near him in clouds of sparks. But he's also very powerful for a hatchling, and when he gets annoyed, is one of the most dangerous hatchlings in his cave.
