Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its skin is smooth and doesn’t seem to have any color to it.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A cold tear ran down SnowFang's nose as she heard the hatchlings excited voices. "First flight!" they squealed. They had all grown their wings in no time but SnowFang's wings had never come. She remembered being really sick, then magic sparking across her body, then darkness. Apparently she had slept for two months and had woken up alone and afraid, feeling empty inside. She loved the darkness, for the sun hurt her white skin. She looked longingly at her friends, who had grown up, forgetting all about her and now were taking flight to journey on with their lives, something SnowFang would never get to do. A huge gust of wind came and all the hatchlings had taken off. Now SnowFang sat alone once again, doomed to be a hatchling forever.
