Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Orphaner Dualscar used to be in a hate-love relationship with The Marquise Spinneret Mindfang. Sure, he would defend her from attacks that she for sure couldn't defend herself against. He would protect her from The Neophyte Redglare and make sure that all debts owed to her were paid.

At the same time, the Orphaner and the Marquise would violently attack each other whenever they met on the flight-paths, in the forests, along the coast, everywhere. Their strife would often decimate villages and kill many others, even if they didn't mean it to.

When she broke off the relationship, the Orphaner placed a bounty on the Marquise's head, and sent the Neophyte Redglare out to hunt for her.

It worked, for a while, at least. Before he himself was caught and exiled by Redglare herself, for the wars he had caused while raging against Mindfang.

An ironic ending, to say the least.
