Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

DarkPropheticHeart is a Vampire Dragon hatchling who is often divinatory. That is, he can sometimes see the future. His mother, WingedOracle, is a very spiritual dragon who can predict future disasters. DarkPropheticHeart was turned to a Vampire by BenignNightMare, which seems to have improved his ability. He has predicted many things, and his cave has learned to trust what he says. DarkPropheticHeart doesn't play with the other hatchlings, he spends almost all of his time with AlbinoPriestess, the spiritual leader of his cave and her acolyte DivineWaterWalker.
