Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. One day while out for a spring flight she came across a beautiful clearing with irresistible flowers. She just had to land and roll around in them for a while. She landed and was intoxicated by their sweet aroma. Day turned into night and she fell asleep. When she woke she was tied down and a group of hunters were about to kill her. Just as a sword was about to pierce her golden hide, a large and stunning guardian dragon swooped down and saved her. His name is Nuada Argetlamh and they fell in love instantly. He is her prince, and she will stay with him forever.
