Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

OceanThespian is a Deep Sea Dragon hatchling with a passion for acting. His adoptive parents, the Pink Dragons HibiscusActor and SplendensPerformer, work with a theater group. They are working on a all-dragon play, 'Dragons in the Emperor's Court', which is a few years away from opening night. OceanThespian is playing the Emperor's son. Even though he can't leave the ocean, he totally captures the attention of the whole audience. He is an amazing actor.
