Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Unlike the other hatchlings, this one hatched with wings.

And look! Its back legs have become a second set of wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Breize was a pet dragon owned by a human who treated him poorly. He was kept in a small aviery, more suited to birds than a growing dragon, and as such his wing muscles weren't fully developed and he cannot fly properly. One day his keeper left the cage open and he escaped, flying for as long as his tortured muscles could take it and then crawling along the ground until he felt strong enough to fly again. Luckily an earth dragon named Quake found him before predators did, and took him to live with a clan of abandoned dragons.

His clan guardians are Chase the Skywing and Hawke the storm, but the often go on long flights, leaving Breize alone.

Breize has found a friend in the water dragon Rivver. She too has been scarred by her time in captivity, and lives in a lake beside the main sleeping caves of the clan. In order to spend more time with her, Breize goes into the water, using his wings to float on the surface.
