Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

But the voice of truth tells me a different story...

When Nerakus was laid, he was told that he would always be a vicious beast. He would be the same as all the others of his breed, violent and aloof. Eventually, his owner, forseeing just another problem in the cave, abandoned him to die in a distant cave at the edges of reality.

It was at the border of insanity that the truth held out its hand.

That hand turned out to be that of the Shadowgaurd clan. He was found by Xingyun Neverend, the clan philosopher, who saw not the egg of a wretched beast, but that of a soul that had a second chance at life.

And so he learned the ways of the clan: of friendship, knowledge, and belief that anyone can be someone. He always has had a strong friendship with Xingun, but is best friends with N'Chin Lightfire and Thanata Graveborn, both of whom have equally troubled pasts. Because of his now peaceful life, he is a friendly and jovial dragon, who is a devoted protector of the entire clan.
