Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Because of her flame-like wings and tail, Xazuri shines even in the dark, attracting moths and other insects that just can't say no to light. She often has to clean her wings, but isn't able to do that fully herself and is too stubborn to ask for help. Only one time, when she was strolling in the forest at night and decided to take a nap under some trees, she woke up when a boy was cleaning her wings with a rag. The boy noticed that the dragon was awake, smiled and continued to clean. Xazuri growled a little, but the boy didn't get scared. Finally Xazuri got irritated, got up and roared a terrible roar, but the boy didn't move. Finally the dragon asked telepathically why wasn't the boy scared of those sounds and the boy replied that he was deaf and couldn't speak. He said his eyes were almost the most important thing to him and that he wanted to see Xazuri's wings so he cleaned them. He begged the dragon to let him finish cleaning and see those magnificent flame colored wings.
