It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Madame MorningDove Monamu comes from a long line of ladies, since she is a purple dragon. She hated her looks since they are so girly growing up as a tomboy which is so unusual in her breed. She grew up as a lady in waiting for the Queen and in the court of the queen, and thought she was falling in love with the queen's son Sir SnowGaurd Sirfalas, yet found out the black heart that he had. She was glad that her daughter never developed anything near such an evil soul, spending more time with her Queen Grandmother then with her father. Now that the young Dragonelle is grown she herself is looking for a new and permanent mate. Though she sees the glares she gets from the other purple, Madame Angela Tomalina, for mating with, as she puts it, her "prince".
