Sunset Dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset Dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ever since he was a hatchling, Fade has been a sickly dragon. Watari rescued him as an egg, with only 16 hours remaining. Rushing him back to the cave, she immediately put him as the top priority, and placed him in intensive care. After a few heart wrenching hours, Fade hatched, revealing himself to be a lanky, somewhat over-developed sunset hatchling. Of course, having been placed under intensive care as an egg, Fade matured more quickly than normal, and went from being an over-developed hatchling to being a stunted adult. This caused his wings to be smaller and weaker, therefore making it very difficult for him to fly. His immune system is also weaker than a normal dragon's, so he gets sick often.

Because of his illness and limitations, he does not mind the company of other dragons, especially those of his own species. The others share portions of their meals with him. He almost never leaves the safety of the cave, and Watari checks on him throughout the day.
