Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As an egg, Starstruck was abandoned for being unusually small. The glitter of her shell caught the eye of a bird, who believed the egg to be hers. She looked after it, unaware that she was protecting a dragon. Even when Starstruck hatched the bird looked after her. Starstruck grew up thinking she was a bird, flying with her adopted family, who accepted the creature with stars on her wings.

One day Starstruck watched in fear as a human killed her family. She felt overwhelmed with emotion as her mother died and flew to her side. The human ran, screaming. Starstruck wondered why she had not been killed with her family. She gazed at herself in a puddle and noticed that something was wrong with her. Confused and grief stricken, she took to the skies, but soon collapsed. A pink dragon found her and took the young dragon to her cave. Starstruck was unsure at first, but soon realized that it was her new home. She can usually be found in the camp, crying out for her mother when a bird flies by.
