Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Having inherited his mother's strength of character, Raidyn Kin is a considerable force to be reckoned with. Very strong and highly intelligent, Raidyn is a potential candidate for the next leader of the family, though his disapproval of relationships with humans has lost him some support.

He feels that humans are a worthless race, who regularly slaughter dragons in order to steal from their hordes and harvest their body parts for trade. He firmly believes that the natural order of things is with dragons on top, humans at the bottom and the human cave mistress off to one side a bit.

Oddly enough, there are some humans who share Raidyn's beliefs, and refer to him as 'The Golden King' or 'The Dragon God' because of the brilliant shine of his scales.
