Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It spends its time pouncing on insects.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing. It is also now covered in brightly colored stripes.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As an egg, this dragon decided that she wanted to go visit the world at large.  She jumped up and down within her shell enough that the egg popped out of her original nest and rolled into the main cave.  She was there picked up and brought to another cave.  She was so excited because this was a new cave.  She was hopeful that she would be able to grow and mature within this new environment. She has been very well taken care of and can't complain about her treatment.
