Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s clear that night is its favourite time.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This Bleeding Moon hatchling isn't known for much. He doesn't have a ton of friends, he isn't old enough to make a decent living—he can't even fly, for Pete's sake. But despite this, he still stands out in a crowd for one reason: his constant complaining.

"My parents are ugly," he whines, circling the feet of an older dragon, "I never wanna grow up; their teeth are all crooked and they smell funny. And the red spots look yucky!"

His parents are exasperated, but they can't do anything about it. His opinions are too firm. As a result, he has decided to freeze himself, so he will never turn 'ugly.'
