Silver Dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Silver females eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them as part of courtship, though they are typically highly-independent. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Glimpses of gleaming eyes and glittering scales were once all anyone had ever seen of Maritxu. Her shyness was whispered of among the dragons, and sometimes the humans living in the valley told stories of the elusive silver.

Maritxu was coaxed into entering the Cave after many years of nagging from Merwina, the "twin" sister that had adopted her the day they hatched. Maritxu and Merwina were gifted to their Keeper by two scrollbearers. Until a few years ago, Maritxu refused to leave her home in Erica's hatchling hutch. A much larger one had to be built just for her.

Grown and diplomatic, Marixtu now has taken a seat with her sister in the council of elders, though their vote is counted as one, since they always come to the same decisions. (They also have to share an actual seat because of dragon law.)

The sisters exist in matriarchal roles to the Clan. Maritxu, the disciplinarian, is the quickest to punish but also the quickest to forgive.
