Kymatumi Dragons are a large, oceanic breed possessing an innate power of control over the water around them. There comes a time in every young Kymatumi’s life when they must leave the comfort of their waters and travel the land on an educational excursion to hone their powers, discover themselves, and learn about the world in which they live. These dragons can change how moisture in the air bends the light to become nearly invisible, making it possible to pass through human settlements undetected. Often the only clues are the sudden heavy rains which tend to follow in one’s wake and the purified waters touched by their aura. The journey may take years, but returning home is considered a passage into adulthood. As peacekeepers, they typically spend their days upholding the balance of nature within their habitat, removing anything that upsets it by force. On calm and beautiful mornings, one may enjoy some time above the waves, dancing and frolicking across the ocean surface, its glorious tail giving the impression of a coarsing tidal wave. Such displays are easily mistaken for tsunamis if spotted by an untrained eye. Kymatumi keep a close watch over coastal communities within their territories, thus the dragons are often regarded as a cherished deity.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
