Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts autumn weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Allonyr Ka was only a hatchling when he realized autumn would soon be ending.  This inevitability scared him, so he did the only logical thing he could think of.  He began to dig up small saplings in the area and dragged them into his lair to replant them.  Soon, he had a small grove of saplings and flowers in his cave, all of them resplendent in their autumn colours.  This way, he thought, he would always have his own autumn home.  Shortly after completion, Allonyr showed his work to an older Magi, Melle Fei.  Melle Fei looked at the hatchling's work, and realized it would break his heart to know that those trees would eventually lose their leaves as well.  So he froze the grove as it was, so it would never age.  This way, he thought, Allonyr would never have to grow up until he's ready to.
