Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to enjoy sunbathing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Chicchai Kirikabu's name means "little stump."  She got this name after her habit of seeking sawn-off tree stumps as napping places.  She never gets to sleep on the same stump twice, however.  By some innate magic, her prolonged contact with the dead stump causes new growth.  As such, by the time she returns to the stump for another nap, it usually has several sprouts growing up out of it.  As she travels with her family through the various forests, she makes a point to sleep upon every tree stump she encounters as her way of aiding the environment.
