Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wypir was found abandoned outside a dark quiet cave on a cold moonlit night. His owner thought he was dead when he hatched, and buried him alive. However, the grave was shallow and Wypir clawed his way to the surface. Rather than taking offense and striking out at his owner for this horrific accident, he felt proud that he had escaped without help, and grew up to be a strong Vampire. Very loyal (for he felt he had proved his worth, and earned the admiration of an awestruck owner), he bites eggs obediently when commanded by his owner and follows his mistress around wherever she goes. He is a faithful companion and wise beyond his years. When his mistress takes abandoned eggs and hatchlings in, he acts as a father and teaches them to hunt, fly, and attract mates. He and his 'offspring' have brought a good number of other Vampires into his owner's life, and each one is subordinate to him, and just as loyal to his mistress.
