Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Chisana budou loves the little vines that have been wrapped around him since he was hatched. He plays with them all the time, but is always very careful not to break them. Sometimes he wishes that he had even more vines to play with because even with all the other vines he still gets lonely. Once he tried to get out of the vines so he could go and play with the other hatchlings, but one broke and it made him sad for days.
