Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kalakanath is one of the most irregular black dragons in existence, in that he is completely insane, and terribly cruel about it. As he matured, something snapped in his mind and, without any apparent provocation, he fled the cave in madness. He stalks the nearby lands, preying on any dragons he can catch. He is amazingly cunning, and through that and total unpredictability, he has managed to evade capture and healing. Lord Teremon would count Kalakanath his greatest failing.

As above, Kalakanath preys on dragons. He will slay any weaker adult and feast on their flesh, or leave them to burn. However, he is known to steal eggs and hatchlings from their parents, spirit them away to an unknown place, and twist their minds and bodies into horrible caricatures, nightmarish monsters totally enslaved to his will. These thralls form an unnervingly large force, and are horrific in both appearance and action.

Kalakanath is a great menace to all civilized creatures.
