As the nocturnal relative to Sunbeam Drakes, Moonglow Drakes are a secretive breed most active under the light of the moons and stars. They are wary of others, but are known to have incredible loyalty should their trust be won. Catching sight of Moonglow Drakes as they dance amid the moonlight is seen as a favorable omen by those they live near, and tamed individuals are common. They are slightly smaller than their cousins, averaging around the size of a cat.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Kurai is a part of the LeValle clan of dragons, which originally started out as a trio of a Nebula (Moonstar), a Season(Winged Spring Leaf), and a Daydream(Mignight's Blue Aura) dragon.

When Kurai was but a young egg, her loving parents Drakarra and Drakelle managed to lose her and even after desperately searching an open field, could not find her.

She hatched soon afterwards and was quickly found by the quartet of Peachshadow, Moonstar, (At the time, Moonstar and Peachshadow were hatchlings) Winged Spring Leaf, and Midnight's Blue Aura. She was adopted by the the couple just as Moonstar was, and she became Moonstar's adoptive younger sister. Since she hadn't had a name, and because of her love of the night, they began to call her Darksky.

"Darksky" did manage to eventually remember what her name was (Kurai Nightglory), and the rest of the pack started calling her Kurai. This was all she remembered.

She eventually had a child with Darkmoon whom they named Hotaru.
