Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Immortal Puddle is named for his habitat of choice: A puddle. The Frozen Hatchling was given the option to move to the lake with his father, but Puddle declined the offer. Her prefers to spend his time near the other hatchlings, frozen and unfrozen. He is quite the chatterbox, too, fond of story-telling with the other hatchlings. He often times asks what it's like to walk on land, and the others promptly reply with "What's is like to swim"<br/>Thus, Puddle will forever remain curious about living on dry land.
