Ultraviolet Dragons are a heat-loving breed that are most commonly found in hot, arid environments. These hardy dragons are omnivorous and will eat both plant and animal matter, even species with thorny physical defenses such as cacti. They are generally peaceful and often quite friendly, but males will become aggressive and cantankerous during the breeding season. Intense fights take place over females, sometimes resulting in injury for both combatants.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ulema, like most Ultraviolets, loves the heat of the sun. She was born on a tropical coast heavily populated by many breeds of dragons. However, this large number of dragons drew the attention of humans. Luckily, instead of legions of troops it was scholars and sorcerers that made their way to the island wanting to learn more about the many dragons in the area. But, this luck turned bad, the researchers went from harmless investigation to kidnapping many of the young dragons such as Ulema. Ulema found herself dragged deep into the mainland though there was no why for her to know this due to the dark and windowless dungeon she was kept in. She was experimented on with different kinds of magic, food, conditions, but was never given the light she desperately needed. She found herself wilting under these conditions, ultimately being almost helpless when kinder humans arrived to break her free. Now, she finds herself struggling to recover and find the coast from which she was taken.
