Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Belonging to two famous lineages and several not so famous ones, Starkweather Dorkface-Riddle is often guilt-tripped into going to many family reunions by her father. Her mother, who is caveborn, shares Starkweather's distaste for large gatherings of dragons. Starkweather -hates- these gigantic get-togethers as she is coerced into hunting up food for everyone, roped into having infuriating discussions with the less savory of her family, and forced to look after the little ones while the parents go off to get tipsy. Though she dislikes the majority of these events, a few stand out in her mind. There was one time where she met her famous ancestors, Midas Dorkface and Shallyna'ar. Though the prideful black dragon will never admit it, Starkweather was incredibly awed at the sight of them. The ancient dragons were humungous compared to Starkweather and their wisdom practically radiated off them, forever burning the incredible image of them into her mind.
