Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Linneara's family had been living with the Rentises for years. When she was younger, Lin had befriended a young Neotropical Dragon named, Daxus. One day the Rentis Clan was in an uproar. Bonita Rentis, Daxus's mother, was crying and roaring. His father was nowhere to be found. After asking around, Lin found out that Daxus had gone missing, and his father had gone to look for him. Linneara was devastated. It was only then that she realized just how much she had cared for Daxus. A month went by and still he was nowhere to be found. She had made up her mind. In the dead of night, Lin ran away. She was going to find Daxus one way or another. She searched for months; going from Clan to Clan asking about him. Finally she had made it to Valley Clan. She tried to convince Daxus to return home but, because of his wings, he refused to. Daxus and Linneara are now Mates and live together in the Valley.
