Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Janbaro tries his best to use his frills to attract mates, but it doesn't work. The problem is that he stinks, literally. He doesn't wash himself as much as other dragons do and learned him the nickname of "The Stinking King" by other youths of his same age. He has no sense of direction and the fact that he plays elsewhere without knowing where he's heading just makes the fact worser. He often gets kidnapped and ransoms are exchanged because of him. He's not exactly the smart type and doesn't have much deduction skills. He's a very troublesome kid but that's what makes him cute.
