Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hikari of Spirit's scales are slightly duller than the average Ribbon Dancers, but her mind is very bright. She can be described as self-possessed, mature, and wise. However, she is very particular about presentation, always tidying up her cave, though its floor is technically (and unfortunately for her) made of dirt and dust. She is very close with Hikari of Joy, who she calls her sister because they were stolen form the cave together. Though she must by law of the land send her own Christmas offspring to other caves to spread joy, she loves hatchlings and would like to have a big family. However, she has many friends, and she, the other Christmas dragons of this scroll, and their mates, always spend time together and call themselves a "non-blood-related family."
