Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This male dragon named Sunlight Kai has a peaceful life. He sleeps when there is no sun and flies when the sun is out. He has done this routine his whole life, thanks to his Mother (Water Sorrow is the mother for all the dragons born into her human's cave). One day, Swift Flare accidentally woke him up when he was sleeping soundly. He wasn't mad but surprised to see Swift Flare because after all, Swift Flare was the fastest dragon around. What surprised him more was that Swift Flare asked him to race her. The day that the race took on was very sunny. Unfortunately during the race, Swift Flare got blinded by the sun's rays while Sunlight Kai was near the finish line. Even though he won against the fastest dragon in the clan, he actually began to have affection for her.
