Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts summer weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

...She crawled out of the big hole in her egg, and every dragon owned in her cave cheered.

"What-" she began babbling in young dragon talk, but  she stopped when everyone bowed for her. She then realized that she must somehow be important, thus realizing later that she was a Thuwed.

Now, she lies on her stomach with her arms crossed, or in this case, paws, being a frozen.
