Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ever since the human Ember found Sora's egg lying in a bush with strange markings on it, the tallest mountain of Elgar was never the same. Sora was the fastest flyer that mountain had ever known. As soon as he hatched, he made sure everyone knew. He flew about, whipping up dustdevils and mini-sandstorms everywhere. Crystal, as calm as she was, would occasionally have to run at him to keep him away from her precious geodes. Even Celadonia, the most patient dragon of them all, was at times overwhelmed by Sora's constant flight. However, Sora soon became restless in his "small" home on the mountain, and he became the first traveler of all the Nuria dragons. Sora zips around the world, coming upon dragon colonies and bringing them the news that the dragons of mountains of Elgar have survived the Murdering of the Dragons, all thanks to two girls. Sora comes home every two months to play with his siblings and greet Ember, and he always stops long enough to race with Flight's dragon Lunris.
