Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cherished Goldwing or 'Cher' is a rather vain dragon. She hides all Spring and Summer, afraid that she'll get too warm and sweat, which would ruin her white body. She finally emerges from her secret den during mid-Autumn and presents herself to her home-cave, where she basks in her friends' happiness to see her.

Before winter comes she'll preen each of her gold feathers individually, and ask a white dragon to look her over and make sure she's 'absolutely perfect'. A week before Christmas, she stays inside the cave all day, making sure not to injure herself. She only allows White Dragons to come near her then.

Finally, on Christmas day, she emerges and seeks her mate, flashing her beauty for all to see. Despite her vanity, she is quite loved by all of her friends, and at her worst is amusing to watch.
