Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

To any ordinary dragon Magic Cheese seems to be shy and fearful of everything. It's always wary of other dragons taking nibbles out of him, so it appears shy. If Magic Cheese always saw his friends in danger, surrounded by hungry, cheese eating dragons, it would jump forward to save them.
