White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Red and White Fern is one of the three adopted daughters of Red and White Crown and Jewels That Are Falling Stars. Her sisters include Circus Calliope and Read Flute.

Red and White Fern carries the name of her mother, Red and White Crown. She is very close to her sisters, Flute and Calliope, and will often challenge them with riddles she has just made up.

She likes to spend most of her time with Flute and another, older, dragon called Colors of Fresh Flowers. All three will talk about the latest cave news and discuss anything that pops into their minds, but when the day is over, Fern curls up in her nest and starts thinking about her real mother. Even though her sisters and mothers have all made her welcome, she can't help wondering why she was rejected by her first family.
