Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shalandar Gray may have been relieved to have a guardian hatchling, who would one day relieve her of the task of caring for dragon young, but she never expected the hatchling to go looking for dragon eggs.  This black egg with a green glow made her wince just to look at it.  Upon hatching, he was named Lorcan Gray, meaning fierce one as all back dragons are exceptional physical and magical warriors.  Lorcan favors the company of the Magi dragon Je'lan Gray perhaps due to a shared interest in magic.  He is an avid hunter providing meat to dragons of Graystone who do not hunt and aids the knights of Graystone Castle.
