And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Jako Tsurara translates to "small fry icicle."  Jako is a sweet-natured winter hatchling who was brought to the cave after her egg was discovered abandoned under a pile of frozen leaves.  She isn't particularly strong or skilled, but she makes up for that by her uncanny ability to get everyone to like her.  Her strength lies in her charm.  Jako is never the victim of any bullying because even if cornered by a mean-spirited hatchling, there are sure to be others in the vicinity who will rise to her defense.  She is steadily learning the various ice and healing magics that her mentor (Toukan) is able to teach her, so she will not have to rely on the kindness of others indefinitely.
