Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zonta is known for her seemingly incurable gambling problems. Zonta wakes up every morning to fly to the plains to watch the whiptails race, which is her preferred method of gambling. More often then not, she bets on the wrong whiptail. Over the years, the gambling debts have piled up. Her gambling buddies, the other sunrise dragons, let her take her time paying her debts to them, though Zonta does have a very large amount due to a nasty stone dragon who doesn't seem very patient. More importantly, the stone dragon has several other thuggish friends who are, quite bluntly, handy with a lead pipe. So far, Zonta owes the stone fifteen chickens, three silver eggs, a leetle tree, the skin of a gold, and the tail of a valentine. She doesn't even know where to start, never mind the fact that she really doesn't want to skin anyone and she has no idea where to get a leetle tree.
