Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gwendolyn d'Harmille inherited the playful nature from her mother, plus a tension towards insight and introspection that her father taught her: she roams the woods were she was born, snatching unwary adventurers and passerbys, burying them into the soil and spending hours chatting and playing riddles and other intelligence games with them. On freeing them, if they fared well, she gifts them with a carved crystal; if they fared poorly she takes to the air with them and performs all sorts of scary maneuvers, before leaving them, pale and shaking, at the borders of the wood.
