It’s an undead baby dragon, produced by a failed magical spell. It probably would be cute if it weren’t partially decayed.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Once a frozen Spring Seasonal hatchling by the name of Druid Petaltail, this little zombie had a rough night one fateful Halloween.

Several days earlier, a young wyvern had died. Druid, several other hatchlings, and the Dragon Keeper who looked after them grieved. On Halloween, the Dragon Keeper decided to try and revive him, to end the pain of loss. However, the spell didn't work. The body disintegrated, and the four nearest hatchlings, a Waterhorse, a Moonstone, a Skywing, and Druid, all grew ill and died.

Grieving and desperate, the Dragon Keeper tried to revive the four hatchlings. The Waterhorse and Moonstone disintegrated as well, and she was losing hope of bringing them back. Then, the Skywing woke up, as if he had never died. She then tried to revive Druid, but his green scales turned sickly gray, and he lost all his petals. He turned to her with a blank, dead stare, and moaned sadly.

He now goes by the name Yamask, the name of his young wyvern friend who had died.
