Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Young, strong, and proud, Weathered Stone rarely had to fight hard for anything in his life. However, that changed the day he met Granite Luna, his mate-to-be that melted his heart of stone. It was challenging in the beginning. She refused his advances and refused to breed with him. It wasn't until fate intervened that he managed to win her over. On a nearby mountain, two green pebble dragons had been fighting. In their rage they set off a huge earthquake. The earthquake caused the cave Granite Luna was in to collapse, trapping her without food or water. Weathered Stone dug through the rubble for several weeks, and didn't stop until he freed her. He then collapsed, nearly dead with exhaustion. But his love nursed him back to health, having finally given her heart to the one who saved her.
