Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Ever since it hatched, it has been hiding among the tree leaves.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This Neotropical hatchling's favorite food is, unsurprisingly, coconuts. However because he is magicked to be an eternal hatchling, he sometimes has trouble opening the thick, tough shells. Whenever this happens he approaches one of the adult dragons and tries his best to look cute and slightly pitiful until the older dragon helps him out. Most of his cavemates are easily swayed by this behavior, but there is the occasional 'tough nut to crack', and when dealing with one of these dragons he employs a repertoire of high-pitched whining noises until they give in.
