Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Chinatsu Orli is Lestari Shizuka's 'twin', the resource keeper of the cave. Being in charge of supplies, she does a strict inventory that keeps the cave stocked. Chinatsu, despite her work, likes to loosen up, for her hobby is to fly amongst the trees and gather sunlight for her wings and head crest. Each day of summer, she gathers sunlight to store in her body. Then, on the last night of summer, all of the dragons gather around her and Chinatsu will do a dance telling summer's end. Finally, once it is midnight, Chinatsu will release all of the sunlight at once, turning her into a glowing beauty that lights up the cave. This phenomenon because of Chinatsu's tumble into Lord of the Dreaming's potions; however, Chinatsu takes it as a gift, not a curse. Despite her anomaly, Chinatsu shares the same curse as her "twin" Lestari Shizuka- when summer ends, she and Lestari enter a sleeplike state. So their dream is to one day see snow, spring flowers and falling leaves...
