Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Like the egg it hatched from, it is a very shiny gold.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

User Description

Sometimes, when an egg wasn't properly taken care of, the hatchling turns out...different. This means that the dragon won't take after its breed, and will act more like whatever dragon was near it when it hatched. Such was the case of Summer. Her egg was laid on a very rainy day in April, and her mother couldn't be bothered to take care of her in such wet weather. Summer's egg was left in the mud and rain. When she hatched, the first dragon she saw was a mint. Summer now thinks she is a mint dragon, but doesn't know how to act like one. She usually just sits around with a bag of peppermints and throws them at dragons.
