Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The eighth of MBlackwood's eggs to mature to adulthood, Tophimus Prime was not named by coincidence. She is every bit as sturdy, stubborn, driven, uncouth, and honest as her namesake, and then some. She will train herself in the use of her terra-based abilities daily, going off alone to work doggedly for hours at a time without stop. At these times, it is unwise to disturb her, as she must use a fair amount of concentration to maintain a steady control on the several-ton boulders she likes to levitate. All the same, she has a hearty sort of compassion within her which surfaces when it counts most.

Tophimus tends to treat the Keeper with relative indifference, neither adverse to nor ecstatic about her involvement in the nest. The earth dragon recognizes the good the human does for the brood, and so allows her to continue her regular visits unopposed. Plus, she likes the Keeper's good comebacks to her own sarcastic opinions.
