Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Due to his small size and speed, this little fellow was able to escape capture, and has now been searching for his parents. Now he sits grumpily in a glass tank, getting fat on crickets and watching the store owners argue over whether the sign in front of his tank should read 'flying and frilled lizard crossbreed' or 'mystical dragon, on sale now!' And all this time, he plots his sweet revenge...
