Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Indrajala is a Sanskirt name, meaning "net of Indra." According to Hindu legend, Indra is the king of the gods who commonly uses a bow, a hook, and a net.

Indrajala was given his name when he used his magic to free Jalanilii from a broken fishing net someone had cast into the lake Jalanilii shares with the other fresh-water dragons.

KitsuchiTenu mended the net and found that it was permanently endowed with the magic that Indrajala used to release Jalanilii and that it was impossible to throw it into the water and not pull it out full of fish.

Jalanilii, who until that point refused the advances of the males of the hoard, was after that often found conversing with him on the edge of the lake. The two's romance continues to this day.
