Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows brightly, and seems to prefer warm areas.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

BrightEmber is an active Ember Dragon hatchling. He is always playing with the other hatchlings of his cave. Or at least trying to play, since he is so mean that no one wants to play with him. BrightEmber is a sore loser, and he gets very full of himself when he wins. BrightEmber often attacks other hatchlings, and doesn't hold back. So many hatchlings have been bitten that they call BrightEmber, "the Mouth" behind his back. No one would dare call him a name to his face.
