Shadow Walkers are a strange breed that possess the ability to slip between the planes of reality, becoming immaterial. This allows them to hide in the shadows, either hunting from the concealment of near invisibility or evading enemies. Though they become corporeal to mate or to eat, they spend most of the rest of their lives walking in the shadows. Shadow Walkers are wary creatures, though on dark autumn evenings when the leaves fall to swirl in the chill, rain damp air, they may be seen drifting out from the shadows.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The swirling fogs of Halloween often engulf the forests wholly, painting their hazy signatures thickly in the air and draping themselves over the branches of ancient pines. Some say that during one of these nights, an egg had lain unnoticed and that something had happened to the soul of the unborn dragon within, causing it to separate from his body. Rather than leaving an empty hull behind, his soul remained and his body was the one to depart.

Transient possesses an ethereal sense of beauty, and his melodies are often said to be as enchanting as they are mournful. He often sings while wandering through desolate forests, as though he is aware of the significance of the location. This is believed to cause him much anguish and as a result, the others attempt to keep him away from the forests. Most assume that he is unaware that he's missing his permanent body, but one cannot help wondering just how much he knows whenever he sees a broken eggshell and begins his soft crooning.
